When I was elected as Councillor in 2018, I had no intention of running as Mayor. I am a farmer at heart. I love the land, I love the people I work with. Being part of feeding people across the community and province makes me happy.
After being elected, I quickly realized that I could not do all that I would like to do for our community from that seat.
I worked to create a solid succession plan for my roles on my family farm. Leadership means mentoring and providing opportunities for the next generation as much as anything. With that plan in place I am now able to offer my service to our community full time.
On May 3, 2022 I filed nomination papers to run for election as Mayor of Wilmot Township.
My time on Council has been challenging, rewarding, and productive. I have loved leading the Wilmot Trails Committee as chair, serving on the Sustainability Working Group and Heritage Wilmot.
When there is a heated debate on any issue we face as a community, I see it as an opportunity to learn and grow together. Difficult and uncomfortable conversations are necessary to enable us to become an even better place to live, work, and play.
We have an incredible natural environment, and a caring community. As Mayor I will continue to work to protect that natural environment, build on the great community spirit we have, and work to make Wilmot known as a leader in the region and beyond.
On October 24, 2022, I hope you will choose to support me with your vote. I look forward to continuing to serve this community as Mayor in the next term.
